The first accident occurred around 1:45 this afternoon near Mendenhall Middle School. Police say a 13-year-old boy was struck by a minivan after stepping into traffic near the intersection of Ontario Drive and Padro Drive. He suffered minor injuries and was taken by his parents to seek medical aid.
Just 15 minutes later and a couple of miles away, a second teen boy was struck near Livermore High School at Fourth Street and Wood Street. After stepping off the curb, the 14-year-old made it across the two eastbound lanes of Fourth Street before being hit by a Honda in the left-hand westbound lane. He was taken by ambulance to Eden Trauma Center in Castro Valley and was found to have a broken leg.
In light of the accidents, LPD is reminding Livermore residents that Pedestrians should always try to use crosswalks to cross roadways and be vigilant of all vehicles on the roadway.
Livermore Police are also reminding motorists to be on high alert around schools, especially during this back-to school season.
